96 Buick PA Front and Rear Wheel Hub Bearing Removal/Install

Talk about the other 3800 powered GM cars, particularly for items not covered in other sections that may be unique to your year/model, and differ from a Bonneville.

96 Buick PA Front and Rear Wheel Hub Bearing Removal/Install

Post by wisemankw »

I just ordered the parts from ebay 2x Front and 1x Rear wheel hub bearings. I would love to be able to change these out myself, but its a little beyond my knowledge. I was wondering how difficult it would be and what tools I would need. I'm not a gear head at all, but would like to think I could do this myself and save a couple hundred bucks.

Someone else made a post about changing these out on their 92-96 bonneville, but a step by step guide was never posted. I would love to have a DIY guide on hand for when I tackle this. I also need to know what tools I would need to get them off and on properly. Thanks for any and all help given.

Try this. The pictures can be made bigger and you can go through them with the buttons along the bottom. But the text is only on the thumbnails page.

My brother and I finally got around to changing out the first of 3 wheel bearings today. After we finished and I decided to move the car back into the driveway the car wouldn't move. When I press the gas I hear the engine rev but its like the emergency brake is on or something. We put the new bearing on the same way we took off the old one. Anyone have a idea of what we could have done wrong? Gonna get back out in the morning and try to fix it. Any suggestions or help would be great.

I am interested in hearing if you found the problem.
You didn't say if you changed a front or rear hub first.
That would really help in getting some advise on what may be binding.

I changed my front with little difficulty.
Haven't done a rear yet. My 95 has drum brakes on the rear. They
can be a pain to work around.
