A listing of everything needed would be great

wrenches/sockets, most likely with extensions, a screwdriver. 02 sensor tool (or big open ended wrench). Heavy-duty chain, and bolts to secure it, and something to lift the engine out with (cherry picker or something of the like). maybe pliers or vice-grip to remove coolant hoses.

that's all i can think of. If you had a 96, i could give you more specific advice, but that's as far as my help can go

edit: thought of something else. a bucket, or catchment of some sort for fluids

How would you go about pulling the engine and putting the new one in without any automated stuff is it possible how hard is it to do?

IDK. You'd need an engine hoist or a pulley system suspended from the ceiling at the very least.

An engine hoist will do you no sweat. After you've removed and labeled every single harness and hose and probably pulled the axles (great time to do the struts since they're already out), remove the mount bolts from the engine and transmission and raise that puppy out!

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.

why would the axles need to come out?
you could label every wiring harness, but pretty much all of them are unique and near-impossible to plug into the wrong one. not only that, but when i did mine, i found my wiring harness as a whole kinda flowed into place. but that's re-installing, and you need to remove first.

also, (maybe this goes without saying) it's a lot easier to get it out if you pop off the hood supports and push it back to the windshield, so it's out of the way and you can lift straight up.
something else you will need...patience

edit again: you're in racine? *shoot*, i could help you with this. probably not well, but i could

Experience, someone who has done it before to help, or at the very least, Chilton's 28200 to use as a guide
Engine hoist - buy ($150 new) or rent
Good jack stands and wood blocks
Chain and shackles or bigger "quick links"
Keep legs as long as boom on hoist
Attach boom close to engine, then hood does not need to come off
Tools including 1/2" drive
Remove electrical connectors not on engine, leave engine connectors in place, remove bulkhead connector at firewall, remove harness with engine
A/C compressor stays connected to hoses in engine bay wired out of way
PS pump stays with hoses still attached wired out of way
Remove oil pressure sender, plug hole with 1/8" pipe plug or plastic plug
Remove fans and radiator for clearance
Go in through RF wheel well with 3-foot extension and 11/16" six point socket for "backwards" bell-housing bolt

I pulled my first motor when I was 15-16 y/o, with no help (for the most part). The skill level to actually pull a motor is minimal. A good manual will guide you through the order/process of un-bolting. Tearing down is always alot easier.

However, you might need more help when putting things back together and especially if rebuilding different motors. Machine shops are not the best place for advice as they are in business to make money, unless you are friends with the owner, or someone there.

Personally I always like to remove the hoods only because I like climbing around for good position and having an open field of view. But then again, I am not in a shop nor under the critical time restraints like some shops.

I find forums like this a great help when it gets down to rebuilding, repairing and putting things back, because there is a ton of experience-- and that is where most of the skill will be required.
