| Post subject: | Driver Door Latch |
It would appear my drivers side door latch no longer works from the outside. Luckily I can still open the door from the inside, but from the outside there is no engagement of the mechanism. How difficult would it be to source/replace the part, and how much would it run me? If anybody has any experience with this let me know, any help/advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Any junkyard will have the part if you can find the correct color. The problem is they are not very easy to replace. The door is difficult to work in because the window track and framing block access for your hands to remove the linkage and the mechanism. I would go to a "pick yourself" junkyard and take one apart to see how it is done and see if you want to mess with it or pay somebody. It could be just a linkage bar came loose. They sort of snap in place with plastic retainers, but you'll have to take your door panel off to see where the failure occurred. My latch is acting up, leaves the radio playing because the car thinks the door is still closed, and dome light may not come on. The latch is harder to replace than just the outside handle. |

Andrew at Bonnevilles Unlimited (Harofreak00 on the forum) more than likely has the correct color door handle for you. |

Pull the panel, then you will know if its the handle or mechanism side of system. could be east patch/repair. |

On my 2000 it was the handle not the latch. It would open from the inside but not the outside. Went to LKQ and picked one up (the same color) for $11.00. Very easy to change out. The main thing is to match the color. To get it painted is an insane price due to paint cost. |
