Sorry, I know this isn't H-body but I know there are a lot more people familiar with lighting on this forum and figured since I am getting no response on CGP I'd see if anyone here has any advice.

I had 9007 HID's with HID low/Hologen high bulbs in my 01 Special Edition's stock housings until 2 weeks ago one low and one high beam bulb burnt out -of course, they were on opposite bulbs, and at the same time.
I bought Bixenon replacement bulbs and installed them yesterday to find they won't switch from high beam. The high beam indicator stays on, but dims slightly if I try to switch to low beams.
The bulbs are the ones that are motorized and should move in/out when switch from low to high/high to low.
I wired them properly, but what's wrong?
Are there special ballasts for bixenon's (a few searchs on ebay, ddmtuning, google don't show them being different from regular)?

IIRC there are special ballasts that interpret the high beam signal and activate the solenoid that moves the bulb.

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.

I looked quite abit and haven't found any bixenon specific ballasts except for oem bixenon ballasts for vehicle equipped with them from the factory. Wish I'd realized bixenon's were low and High from the same HID bulb vs HID low w/a tiny 880 sized halogen piggy-backed halogen bulb as that's what I had and was told they were when I bought them.

That's what I thought originally until I was told by several people that Bi-xenon's (9004/9007) had a halogen high beam that sucked, while a standard 9004/9007 HID didn't have a high beam and I'd be driving in a dark box if I switched to high beams.

Also FYI, After driving in front of you.... Your lows are blinding ;)

Bi-Xenon are HID where they have some sort or shield or shutter that creates the low beam cut off, or opens up to the high beam pattern. My GTI had them, just a single bulb and projector on each side, and a shutter switching from low to high.

Do GPs have a single bulb that does low and high beam, or two separate bulbs?
