That sounds like my first foray into it. Last time it took me 25 minutes, and the longest part was when I had to lift it back up and go underneath to find the extension I dropped on the subframe.

Spark plugs and wires was such a PITA! I left the same way you did. My Autos teacher kept yelling at me for swearing during the whole ordeal. :btruestory:

Swearing is theraputic. My hands were sore for several days after I changed my plugs and wires after I got my Bonnie last fall.

Plugs and wires in Bonnevilles really isn't THAT bad. Ever tried to do them on a 60 degree v-6? And, how about a 60 degree v-6 in a minivan?

Pick your battles. These plugs and wires are a walk in the park to change...

I just got done going a plug/wire change on the black project car. I'm not sure why you guys make it out to be so hard. It probably only look me 10 minutes, and the exhaust manifolds were still hot. I think these cars are pretty easy actually. I use a Irwin groove lock pliers to remove the boot, and a 3" extension with my spark plug socket.

That's why, a wire change is much easier to do on a warmed-up engine.

On Windstars you HAVE to get them from under the van.

Honestly I have thick arms. I have to shove my arm around the hook thing for the engine cover and I bruise it up bending it where there's no joint to reach the plugs themselves.

Two 13mm nuts and that's off and you have tons of room. I have large arms and no issues.
