Mom and I finally talked my dad into buying snow tires and wheels for his car, since his current Ecsta ASX's suck in the snow (I don't blame you Bill, LOL), so I went on TR and got 4 General Altimax Arctic 235/55R17's, and 4 of these in 17x7.5:

They should be here next week at the latest. I may have to come home to put them on the wknd after, since I go back to school on Sunday. Total was $1,098 shipped. But, safety is everything in MN winters and it will make his current tires last at least another summer, so it will all work out in the end.

Good tires, and those should look sharp on his car. I'm liking my Altimax Arctics, er, Nordfrost 3's.

Good choice! Join the club of GXP's with attractive winter rims instead of steelies

(though I'd have gotten 17" steelies if I knew of any that actually fit)

I love my altimax's so far. Those wheels are nice, too nice for winter, IMHO, but hey, why not I guess. I'd love a set of those in 18" for summer on my car.

They were as cheap as any, YG. I don't really care, LOL. They looked the best IMO. The wheels they originally paired with the setup were similar to your STS wheels, multi-spoke, I didn't like them at all. These 5 spokers will be much better.

Ohh, I can't wait to see those on the car. That's an attractive wheel winter wheel for sure!

Wow, I cannot believe this, but they're here!!

Just had time to un-band them and take a peek, will mount them this afternoon, and get some more pics. Tire Rack is definitely top-notch for how fast they got them here. Simply amazing.

You know what's odd? One of my co-workers (Lori's desk is right behind me) bought the ASX's for her HHR on my suggestion. They suck in snow. Mine don't. Mine are absolutely the best tire I've ever driven in snow, and have great wet and dry traction in all conditions.

Strange stuff. I wonder if sidewall profile has anything to do with it.

Definitely could be the shorter sidewall. They will last this summer, then in spring 2012 will come some summer tires to replace them. :)

We dont really have very severe winters here in VA, but I am considering putting a nice set of all-seasons on the sawblades and then going with some nice 18in summer wheels/tires...gonna have to stay with the chrome though!

Those are some sharp looking wheels, and I agree, anything I've ever ordered from Tire Rack came so fast it made my head spin.

I agree that this is the way to go. Once I get a job, etc. I'm doing winter/summer sets.

Pics of them on the car: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=23085

Those wheels on that car look muscular, and the black inserts go nicely with the overall look of the GXP. Nothin' like looking hard and tough with your winter wheels on!

Great choice, and a sharp look!

So when you order rims and tires from them, they ship them mounted and balanced?
