Besides intake there are many "internal" engine mods to do. Most basic "starter" mods include CAI or FWI (fender well intake), and Exhaust. I got my intake off ebay for about $20. Some dont trust them but I have had mine for 10,000 miles without a problem. here is a couple pics.

Sorry gotta crap in your cheerios, but that is NOT a cold air intake!
You have made a HOT air intake. All you're doing is sucking in hot engine bay air and actually hurting your performance.

A Fender Well Intake is the only proven way to cut your actual intake temps.
Now weather you use Intense's kit or make your own from aluminum tubing like others have (95naSTA made a good example of this style).

Here is what I did, there's some extra steps that aren't necessary but you get the idea.

The basic components to the kit would be:
A late 90's S-10 PCM tray I believe 4x4, a good cone air filter, the silicone throttle body adapter from Intense (it has the air intake temp sensor bung in it), either Intense's intake tubing or some aluminum tubing in 45* bends, some silicone couplers, and some good band clamps.

I should definitely do that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I would of had no idea this was decreasing my performance. Nice job on yours. Looks great. Your whole engine bay is nice, neat, and clean.

And a "Good" Air Filter is one made by reputable manufacturers, such as K&N, AEM, AirRaid, S&B. I've heard differing reviews on Spectre stuff, but as a rule of thumb I try to stay away from them, and nothing made for the import/ricer market is any good, including the filter pictured above...

Is it required to move the EVAP Canister?

I am going to have to use what I got and get some custom tubing as I do not have funds to get a k&n or air raid filter/intake. Thanks for the advice though, I will definitely follow it in the future.

Pretty sure that it's necessary to do that to make an FWI fit, yes.

BTW, your sig says "chipped". What precisely does that mean?

Wish mine were a 00+, it would be a bit more simple.

And It doesn't really act as a chip for performance as it does a governor over-ride. So it isn't limited anymore.

Yes, you have to relocate the charcoal canister because thats the hole for the intake tubing to run through.

Welcome to the club!

BTW, is your "chip" attached to your washerfluid tank?

Yes, It was the only place to mount it without splicing more wire.
