Ok, as some of you know I am going to try the brembo upgrade on my GP with CTS-V brakes. I have some of the stuff together and I did a test fit just now. These won't clear the spokes on my wheels so I am going to need some spacers and longer studs. The studs shouldn't be an issue but I know that only certain spacers are safe to use, any recommendations?

I think what you want are the hub centric ones. Not sure entirely.

If you're spacing your wheel out past where the hub isn't centering the wheel, you'll need hubcentric spacers.

Or you could sell the wheels to me and buy CTS-V wheels instead... :beerchug:

CTS-V wheels would require a re-drill or adapters.

It was just a stab at trying to score the proper rims for my car...

I don't think they will need to come out that far. This is what it looked like while I was test fitting.

You just have to figure out if the hub is still centering the wheel at that point.

Take the distance the hub sticks out past the rotor, subtract the depth of the chamfer in the hub hole of the wheel and subtract the distance of gap shown in that pic (as long as the caliper isn't touching). If you have a positive number, you're good to go.

I would also suggest leaving yourself enough room for new brake pads/rotors. It would be awkward putting new brakes on the upgrade, and finding you need more spacer.

The brembos use a fixed caliper.

Since I'm assuming you have been doing a bunch of research on this already, what all is involved in the swap other than the wheels not fitting? I think I'm going to be due for brakes soon and the car could use a little more stopping power. Is the bonnie the same as the GP brake wise? I'm not completely opposed to replacing wheels if necessary.

Randy (yourgrandma) has done them on his Bonneville so I know it's possible. You have to have 18's at the very least. And then it's calipers, pads, 2007 Mustang GT500 front rotors, zzp extended SS brake hoses, caliper bracket bolts and banjo bolts from an 00ish F body, and then these little sleeves that go around the bracket bolts as the new bolts are thinner (I don't know if that step is needed on the bonneville.)

I am following this write up.

If you're looking to keep your 17s, there's always F-body brake calipers or better yet C5 Z06 ones. Both will still fit under the 17 inch rim, and can be used with the stock rotor or the larger GXP rotors.

Well things aren't going so well, I did manage to figure out what size spacer I'll need, but in the process I snapped a stud. Also the caliper is slightly scraping the rotor, but I can fix that with washers. I want to have these done before the Michigan meet, but every time I attempt something I run into a snag so I have doubts.

Just gotta keep at it, the meet is still a ways away.

Anybody know the hub bore size on GXP wheels?

So 70.1mm?

Should be 70.3 mm

I just looked at a place that makes custom spacers for what I'd need for $60. But they want $25 for shipping so the search continues.
