Hello Pontiac Bonneville Club's

I have a 06 grand prix gt supercharged with 46k miles. It drives awesome, just that when i pedal to the medal, it doesnt GO like it should. the RPM stops at 3000 and goes up and down from 2800 or 3200 RPM. I can feel the engine not wanting to rev anymore and the check engine light turns on and blinks for about 5-10 times before it turns off.

I just bought the car and replaced one plug that was cut. This blinking CES light only comes on when i step HARD on the gas pedal, but if im just driving normal in the highway i can go up to 90mph w/out any problem, thats of course if I dont step hard on it.

I will just be taking it to ASE Mechanic and have them check it out. Since i just bought the car at 44,xxx miles and it had delphi plugs, im not sure if they were recently changed but when i carfaxed it it was takin care of, because it was on a maintenance check every now and then.

( Are Delphi the OEM plugs for the '06 grand prix's? )

I need help please!!! :sad5:

Sounds like a misfire. Why not just do plugs and wires and go go from there? Also.you can test your coils the same way as shown in techinfo

I can only assume the Delphi plugs are original. Replace your spark plugs and wires. GM says the stock plugs are good for 100k miles. BS IMHO.

Yea everyone is saying a misfire. :angry7:

well i guess i can give it a tune-up since i'll be keeping her for a while. What im confused about is, why does it only do it when i pedal it to the medal, but if i just cruise with it normally it doesnt misfire at all?

Plug wire that is partially bad, or a fouled plug that isn't firing properly. Also, replace the fuel filter, if it has it, and run some good injector cleaner (Gumout Regane, Techron Concentrate, Amsoil Performance Improver) through it to clear any crud out.

You might want to check the catalytic converter for high back pressure. Remember, that part is covered by factory warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles at any GM dealer.

None. They will look up your VIN and know your in-service date.

that is soo good news. thanks alot Rus. So when i do go to the dealer, all i need to ask them is to "check the catalytic converter for high back pressure", and can you please point me to the right direction on where to find that says this part is covered by factory warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles at any GM dealer.

Thanks again.

It is a federal law. Go to your dealer and say you think your cat might be plugged. They'll check it.
