From what I can gather...there is a Class 2 serial data splice pack that the OBDII port's Serial data line and the serial data line from the PCM (Blue connector #58/#59 (cant remember which right now)) runs into. I need to get to that to troubleshoot an issue, does anyone know exactly where it is located? :helpsmilie:

Here is the schematic for the serial data.

You can get these same diagrams and the entire factory service manual for free here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gKz4mKnv0w&t=29s

GM has used a splice pack in some vehicles to link the class 2 serial data bus connections of several components, however this is not the case in the Bonneville. The Bonneville, for the most part, uses more of a "daisy chain" type configuration. One serial data line in, and another out to the next component (some exceptions apply) to form a big (for lack of a better work) "circle". This way, there is redundancy if the data bus becomes open at some point.

Modules that only have a single point of contact with the data bus include:

Data Link Connector (DLC) - Of course, not a "module".
Head-Up Display (HUD)
S-Band Receiver - XM Module (SDAR)
Memory Seat Module (MSM)
Driver Door Module (DDM)
Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM)

Perhaps if you are more specific about your problem, we can offer better assistance.

I bought a used DHP and while I am familiar with Tuning, it seams after several hours of research on the matter on just about every 3800 forum I could find that there are so many "things" on the Serial bus on the later years that the DHP supports (03, 04, 05) that when the Tuner sends the "Shutup so I can write this information to the PCM" command that it gets interrupted as it starts to write, by other things on the bus responding "Hey, what was that, oh your trying to do what?"...which at best (what I had happen) makes the programmer error out with "unauthorized access" at worst it can Brick the PCM. I had read (guess it was a grand prix) that they used a splice pack somewhere under the dash or hood...but I see from the diagram that is not the case....looks like I might need to run a dedicated serial bus line between the DLC and the PCM to let the tuner talk direct without all the other chatter...basically an off-board programmer built in...guess it should be easy enough, just use a switch to switch between direct to PCM or normal mode....whats your take on my idea?

I should add that I know the programmer is communicating fine driver/software wise. I can do a full bin file download, read codes, case learn, etc...it just wigs out when I try to flash the ".bin" back to it. I have also verified the OSID of my file is supported by the DHP.
