Programming remotes ('99 Lesabre)

Post by enslow »

Does anyone know how to program remotes for a '99 Lesabre? It appears to be not in the tech section.

It is in the glovebox owner's manual IIRC.

Ign off, On the data link connector under dash next to steering wheel use a wire to jumper terminal #8 (black/white) wire to #4 (black) wire, Turn Ign on press and hold unlock and lock button on one transmitter locks will cycle within 30 seconds, repeat for second transmitter, disconnect wire, should do it.

Hmm, I have a 1998 owners manual I got for my wife's 97. Instructions are not in that manual. Also, I understand that procedures change from year to year. I'll try your method and see if it works.

That is the correct procedure and it's not documented in the owner's manual. Guess GM doesn't want us doing something for free that the dealers could do and make a buck off of.

Also remember that this resets all remotes, so if you have an existing remote you will have to re-program it.

I found the procedure shortly after August 10th. Because the procedure was from another forum, I didn't know if anyone would be offended if I posted the solution and links. I know some forums are extremely sensitive about that.
