Several months ago I had to replace my master cylinder in my '91 Ninety-Eight. After I did that the ABS dash light came on and will not go out. Any ideas? Several years ago after such a replacement there was no problem with the light.

I would first check that the wheel sensors are all still connected, and that the wiring at the sensors isn't broken. If you have access to someone with the OBD1 scan tool that can scan the ABS they can tell you what is wrong within a few minutes.

Autozoo and those other parts stores only have OBD2 scanners, that won't work on your OBD1 car. I use a laptop based software for OBD1 as it's hard to find a shop with OBD1 diagnostic equipment (dealers usually can still).

Have a friend who has a Modus.....ran the codes and came back to a problem with the front wheel sensor wires. I replaced both of those and still have the light.....re-scanned at and it's showing no codes present, but the light is still on? Strange huh?

Did you bench bleed the MC?

I believe the ABS unit has bleeder valves (just like the calipers and wheel cylinders) that may need to be bled as well.

I did bench bleed the cylinder. I was unaware of the bleeders on the ABS unit...I'll look for those.
