Im still in the process of getting everything set with the new LE, oil, filters, plugs etc, and developed a check engine light about a week after getting the car. I pulled a code 34 and disconnected the batt. I proceeded to clean the MAF, but still have the code 34. I plan on pulling the fuel filter right away, but was hoping somebody might be able to expand any other causes for that code, as well as the grams/sec? Appreciate all the tips in the past guys! **edit** Just had a thought, I bet its an altitude thing for air density? Juat a guess

about the only time you'd see a code 34 is when you have a MAF failure...

Make sure you have no Vac leaks... If everything is good I would look at the MAF to be the culprit...

Is the MAF on the '87 compatible? If so I'll swap that one in. Also, the vacuum issue seems plausable, since the check light does not come on at idle, and lights at the first throttle input. Apart from that, the motor surges occassionally when throttling from idle, will be checking TPS next. I believe (feel free to correct me) the '89 motor is slightly different from the '87, and hope the MAF is still the same. Thanks for the help

Nope the 87 MAF is not compatible with the 89 Bonneville
