Tuesday, it drove fine. It was parked in the garage and left alone.

Today, the car is taken out again, but this time it starts and stays in 3rd, and it will not go into OD. It will manually go into 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Reverse works. It has no issues taking off. :)

The fluid level is good. The fluid and filter were changed back in October. The fluid looked good when it came out. I am anal on this stuff

It was a nice, somewhat warm day Tuesday; today it's ice cold.

Any ideas?

I'm wondering if it's that pressure-switch-matrix-thingie (seriously...I can't think of the name for it right now...it's that switch manifold with pressure membranes) acting up.

Pull any codes on it?

P0705 and P0706 (both are for the trans shift range...and I think both are referring to that matrix) are no MIL.

What's your engine temperature like? If the tranny fluid is too cold, a lot of times it will prevent lockup. When it was around 0*, I was driving back home from school and my converter wouldn't lock up. I had to turn the heater down so the engine could warm up, and about 10 minutes later it locked up. I had a 4 hour drive with no heat... it sucked. Changed the t-stat that weekend, though!

I caught that on BPro. I had my dad grab the trans lines and it was a clear "they're hot!". LOL

Your not getting power to your shift solenoids. In 3rd both A and B solenoids are off. It could be the connector is disconnected or there is damage in the wiring harness some where

I sure hope thats it!! A loose connection is better than a trans rebuild! LOL

Would that explain the no OD also?

The connection is still inside the transmission though ;)

My GF has the same issue on her 98 SE. The trans won't go into OD in cold temps until the trans is warmed up.

Haro.....Shhhhhhhh! LOL!

I am thinking that since the battery was almost dead, and it barely started, that may be most of the issue. We'll see. My dad has the battery disconected and a charger on the battery right now. He is going to let it sit overnight and see what happens tomorrow.

Humor me... :) But does your cruise control work? The brake/shift/cruise switch will prevent TCC lockup and cruise if it out of adjustment or bad. That's much better than the alternatives.

Does it start out in 3rd gear when the gear selector is in OD? If so its the power to the solenoids. He said manual First, manual 2nd, and manual 3rd all work you dont need solenoids for the manual range. Cruise control will still work. TCC wont work if its not getting power like the solenoids.

It is D 3 2 1 for gear selection. Not to insult, just so we are all on the same page

It starts in 3rd in D or 3. The no power would explain the no OD or lockup.

So, last night my dad disconnected the battery form the car, put the charger on the battery and let it sit.

I guess the computer needed a reset. There was barely enough power to start the car and it must of made the computer a little dizzy. I just got off the phone with him, and he said she is back to life. Starts in 1st, has overdrive and lockup.

Apparently it kicks down too - 55 to 70 in the blink of an eye  He did that while I was on the phone with him. When he did it, I heard "woooooooo", lol.

Thank you for the quick replies!!

Sorry I am used to older H-bodys. My lesabre t-type goes OD D 2 1.

Glad to hear your problem was solved.
