Post subject:  96/97 rear exhaust manifold?

So I purchased a zZP Downpipe for my 96. Not realizing between 96 and 97 the rear exhaust manifolds changed from the donut style gasket to the flange style. The Downpipe is designed for 97 and newer and does not fit my 96 manifold in any way shape or form. So my next best idea is just out a 97 manifold on it.

I am assuming it will bolt up, but is there any difference in the EGR tubing? Is it just a direct swap?

The car is out of commission waiting for 2 rear shocks as one rear which decided to break in half like they seem to do, and sprung a rad leak on the first fire up after installing my power log and throttle body. Every time I fix one thing, something else goes on this *dang* car. It’s fought me since the day I bought it.

The rear manifold will be a direct swap.

Fantastic, looks like I’ll be making a trip to Pick N Pull today. Thanks!

Went out to pick n pull on Sunday to get a manifold. Luckily I was able to find a 3.8 from a Grand Prix just laying on the ground totally complete so I snagged the manifold off of it in a matter of minutes. I got home and pulled mine off quite easily while still in the car. The new manifold bolted right up and used the gasket that came with it. However I smacked my trans dipstick tube with the manifold and now the grommet is leaking tranny fluid. Yay, just one more thing to add to the never ending to do list.

Lol. I would say it gets easier but it's got wheels, so it doesn't. Expectations sure do get dialed in though.

If it's got tires or t1ts, it's gonna give you trouble, right? lol

I honestly think the worst job I've done on this car is having to change both the belts. I had a more enjoyable time replacing the water pump lol.
