I appreciate your help but there was actually nothing wrong with the car to begin with. I know that the gas needle is messed up and i dont know if its a faulty wire or sender, but when the car died i assumed it still had gas because i topped it.off 2 weeks earlier. So the car was sitting for a week, i decided to put a gallon in and sure enough she turned on!! Not giving me any more problems, but i read somewhere that if the fuel sender is bad the pump is or will be going soon too.

Fuel sender and pump are two diff animals, but its good to replace both if the pump is orig.

I'm not the one who helped but I wanted to say thanks for posting a follow-up.
It is always good to know what has worked and what didn't when looking through past posts to find a solution to your own car problems.

The sending unit might not be bad--it could be a corroded connection or broken wire somewhere.
In any case, changing the sending unit is often done when replacing the fuel pump because the 2 units are together in the fuel tank.
Typically, it is time-consuming to drop a tank whose bolts have rusted in place over the years, especially when you live where roads get salted in the winter.
FWIW, Amazon (and elsewhere) sells a Delphi fuel pump/sending unit all together, so you can just drop it in in one piece.
Delphi manufactured the original fuel pump IIRC.

If you do the job yourself, be advised that the best fuel tank gasket is the ACDelco one.
The others are just regular O-rings that can slip out of place when installing.
The ACDelco gasket is different and has tabs which keep it in place and make it easier to install.
