New to me 98 SSE this morning after starting up had the DIC flash rapidly on and off, and the chime would ring every once in a while. My drive to work is only about 4 miles, and one other cool morning it did the same thing, and finally came on and stayed on just as I was pulling into the parking lot.

Today again, got halfway to work, had to turn around and run back home. Seemed as the car warmed up then the DIC light came on and functioned normal.

I don't know if when it is cold over night (temp display showed 38 degree F this morning) that any moisture frosts up on something electrical (wires or connections) and then when it warms up and drives the moisture off things the DIC seem to work normal.

Just a little worried with the Wisconsin winter looming on the near horizon. It wouldnt be too bad, the the occasional chimes going of would drive me over the edge.

Any ideas where I should start looking? :dontknow:

Thanks in advance.

38 degrees again this morning, same problem. Car does have a sunroof, do I need to investigate drain lines. Passenger side front floor appears damp, but could just be my imagination.

Thought I would post a short video - since a video is worth a thousand words.

Cleaned your battery cables lately? If not, do so, including peeling back the insulators and taking a look at the other end of the positive cable at the battery.

I'd say over the years here about 2/3rds of the problems such as you're describing have been cured by cleaning and/or replacing battery cables.

I will try that. I know I bought a new battery start of the month, as the car had been sitting for a few months without a battery in her.

Anything in particular that I should be using to clean the cable connectors?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I just use baking soda and water, and then use dielectric grease for the connection. Don't forget to clean inside the battery terminals. a 9MM cleaning brush works well.

Wish you were here. Two 20 pounders with beards down to the ground were crapping on my lawn at dawn this morning. :)
