Anyone know where I can get the rubber caliper guide pin bushings for the 97 Bonneville SSEi? A part # would help.

They look like these;

I think I may have found the part #, I believe it's ACDelco 179-1179 Bushing Kit. Now I can't seem to find out how many come in this kit.

I found these on Rock Auto and based on the picture it looks as thought the caliper guide pin bushings come with the kit but there is no mention of it in the description. Part # WAGNER Part # EX623 Price $39.79. The Rock Auto pricing on the guide pin rubber bushings are approximately $16.00 and I don't know how many come in the kit. I don't need the pads but I guess I can stock them for the next time.

EDIT:

OK, now I'm confused as I just noticed they also have WAGNER Part # H8209 Pin Boot Kit Price $$4.24. I still don't know what the quantity is and what the difference is between the previous ones?

When I needed bushings, I got them at the local NAPA store. I could inspect them to see if they were what I needed.

Don't forget to ream out the ears of the calipers to get rid of the rust that pushes in on the bushings and the pins.

Thanks for the reply imidazol97, I wish I could take your advice but since I'm in Canada I was going to have Rock Auto ship it to my place. When you purchased them do you remember what you paid for them. That may give me an idea of which one I need.

Thanks for the suggestion on the ream/rust issues and I believe that's my problem. The rubber bushings seem to be in great shape, my only problem is the metal bushing is really tight and probably won't slide as the pad wears.

The buildup of crud inside the ears was bad on mine. It wore through the hardened rubber bushings. There is a specification for the diameter of the ears, IIRC. The suggestion was using a brake hone to rub through the crud to get to bare metal.

I do not recall how much I paid for them at NAPA.

Mine hasn't wore throught but I know it will come back to haunt me in the future if I don't address the issue this summer.

Thanks for the replies and I'll have to figure this out soon. I'm suprised others haven't run into this situation.

Make sure to spread grease on the guide pins themselves, very crucial.

Thanks for the reply Michael:

I have been using anti seize lubricant on the guide pins and bushing my whole life and it seems to work really well. This time whether I used the lubricant or not the bushing is still really stiff so I figured rust has started to form on one caliper bushing only on one side of the caliper. But I know better then to just replace one bushing. If I can get the proper rubber bushing I'd do both sides.

I found three sellers on Ebay that show that part number for the bushing. Costs ranged from about $16.50 to $24.00. Each described it as a kit, but only show one bushing. You could try contacting one of them and ask how many come in a "kit".

Thanks for the reply Archon. I did contact two of them and asked, "could you please clarify if "a kit" is one, two, three, or four pieces, in other words, how many pieces come in this kit", the reply to both were:

"Yes, this is a kit" and

"The listing states it's a kit, you are correct".

So I posted in this forum to get clarification if anyone had purchased them before.

I checked Advance Auto Parts site, and they show the Wagner bushings with a comment of "front; 2 required". Unfortunately, it doesn't say 2 per side. From the picture, my guess is that 2 bushings coming in the kit. They do have a live chat option. Maybe you can get an answer there.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I'm in the process of making a Rock Auto order and came accross this picture in Ebay. It would appear there are two per box.
