Hey,
Three months ago I disassembled the original HU of the car (1998 SSEI) in order to replace it later. Since then I still haven't installed a new HU I have noticed that the security light stays on after I start the engine, there wasn't any problem with starting it.
I thought that maybe there was connection between the HU to the security light so I put it back but the light stayed on.
So after three months I put some new HU with a replacement wiring harness and still the light is on.
Does anyone know what is the problem that caused it, maybe I touched some wires of the securtiy system by mistake when I installed the new HU , or maybe the original system hae a connection to the security system?
Thanks

The security light on my dash has been on for well over a year now. I don't think there is any known definitive cause for a security light being stuck on. It could be caused by any number of issues. I wound up putting some black electrical tape over the light and drive on my merry way.

Thanks, I agree with you that it's not so bad, but since it happened not along time ago I still miss the time the light was off.
So, if you have a clue or maybe you can give me some directions for what can cause it (except for an invalid key) I'll thank you.

Gentlemen, in each of the cases above one of the tiny wires that go into the ignition key cylinder broke while the engine was running. VATS recognizes this as a non-security issue and allows the car to start and drive normally, although with the security lamp lit.

Check Techinfo for "disabling VATS" for the procedure to make the lamp go out. It involves either wiring the proper resistor into the circuit under the dash or replacing the lock cylinder.
