Ghosthawk's post on the work he's preforming got me thinking about my car.

When I installed the motor, I obviously turned it by hand to get the flex plate and torque converter bolted back together.

So my question is did I throw it off by not doing a C.A.S.E. learn when I fired it back up when I was done?

Should I do one now, its been almost a year that I did the engine swap?

If I should, do I do it with the car running or does the Aeroforce scan gauge do it with the motor off?

Thanks in advance guys.

The car has to be running. Then on the gauge go to the CASE relearn option and basically it will tell you instructions from there. Basically all you are doing is revving the engine up and the PCM is calibrating some stuff. It depends on who you ask but I notice a lot of people say it's not necessary unless you are getting a DTC for it. If you have access to an Aeroforce Interceptor you might as well do it though. I wouldn't pay a stealership to do it unless it is throwing the code.

I do it every time I swap my PCM's, the longest part is waiting 30 seconds to shut the car off and re-start when it's done.

I wonder if this is why I have had an issue with starting ever so often, it's very random.

When I go to start it, it will crank just fine and seem like it has started but it doesn't. This happens all in a matter of seconds. When it does happen it sounds like a backfire through the FWI, but without the fire ball. Then you try it again and it will fire right up like nothing happened. Has me wondering if its just out of sync. :dontknow:

Could be. You have an Aeroforce, don't you? See if it has the CASE learn controls in it, it'll be the last menu option, "Controls"> CASE LEarn.

Just tried it, I'll have to see if this takes care of my random issue.

What is it supposed to do after you shut the motor off, because whenever I start the car again it resets the gauge?

Hopefully I was able to do the CASE learn successfully.

All the case learn does is reset the PCM's learned position of the sensor, it doesnt hold any info in the gauge itself, otherwise the dealer would have to give you the tech II when they do one, lol.
