Year and Trim: 1988 sse - 80,000 on the clock and my first car...

1995 se wit da sle package- 120,000 on the clock and ticking stronger then ever...
just recently my oild pressure gauge in the dash has been going all the way down to the beginning if the red warning area..

but its only when i am at a stop light or when ever i have the car running in park..

but when i step on the gas the oil pressure goes back up.. and when i let off the gas and come to a stop the oil pressure drops to red and my car constantly goes ding ding ding ding ding untill i step on the gas and start driving..


please dont tell me any dreadful news.. what else could it be..?


where is the oil preesure sensor..? and could that be the problem..?


i am very scared.. i have too much blood sweat tears and money in this car.. its my life..

Sorry to break it to you, but you should start looking for a new engine. That one isn't going to last much longer. Sounds like you spun a bearing.

I think the first major step would be to confirm that the oil pressure actually is dropping according to the gauge. That would be verified with a mechanical gauge connected to where the oil pressure sender is. If that confirms the readings, than Andrew is likely correct. I am sure you have checked the basics such as oil level, last oil change, etc? Higher weight oils may buy you more time, but not much more.
