Can someone help? My car drove fine today and than all of a sudden it ran like it was starving for gas or some thing like that but since it started this now I don't have drive I have reverse but no drive I'm not for sure if the tranny was hot or not. But I will be going back in the morning to see if it will go in drive or not. Do they have sensors on them to to tell when they get hot. No good mechanics (some don't even know what kind of part you are talking about when you call about a car or truck) around here most just say you need a tranny or motor even if you do or don't. I'm hoping its some thing simple, oh and I think my tranny mount is broke could this cause some of this, not going into drive? I really like both of my Bonneville's and would like to keep them but if I don't find help soon just might go mad. I have a 1993 and a 1994 and both of the transmissions went out with in a week of each other could some one have put some thing in them to mess them up?

The pcm's failsafe for overheating won't prevent drive. It'll just prevent anything but first gear. The system works differently for 93 and 94, so we need to know which car you're talking about.

My gut tells me it's more serious than simply overheating, and if it did overheat, it did it for a reason. We need more symptoms leading up to the failure and a much better description. You haven't given us any information we could troubleshoot with.
