I have a 1996 SE with supposedly a motor out of a 2002 Regal. Got a couple concerns.

#1 The car has an aftermarket cd player. It was installed using an adaptor (was relieved to see that!) but when I got the car the constant was not working so it would loose its memory every time the car shut off. Not a big deal, I just tapped into the cigarette lighter wire and that worked. Is this a common issue?

#2 The OBDII port does not power on my scanner. Possibly wiring issues due to the motor swap??

#3 The AC compressor does not kick on. I bought the ac recharge kit and the lower side holds pressure but the compressor does not kick on. The fuse under the dash and the one in the bay are good, I tested them with a DMM. I guess I need to pickup a haynes manual to figure out how to test the other components. However I am worried that this may also be a a result of the wiring of the motor swap not being 100% There are some spliced wires above the ac compressor area.

Any insight would be appreciated. :)

FWIW, don't get a Haynes or a chilton. Get a GM Factory Service Manual. Much better schematics, etc than a Haynes or Chilton, which are based around tearing the car apart, not the individual systems.

#1 usually there is a yellow wire from the harness that should be connected to the continuous power lead in the cars harness, but any contiuous power is fine. All it is used for is the preset memory.

#2 what type of scanner are you using (make, model). Most I have seen have an internal battery and just communicates with the car.

#3 There are several things that can cause the compressor to not engage. If there is a problem in the wiring, it should be looked at first. You will also want to check the pressures in the system. Then there is the control circuit with the relay and pressure switches.
