Hey guys I have a 98 lesabre with 217kms on the clock, its getting really hot here even with my dark ass tints I cant handle the heat I NEED my AC working. So I went out and got a recharge kit with a gauge and two cans of charge. pumped it all in watched the gauge go into the "cold" zone and then heard my new cold air hissing out from the pass side front of the car, I tried my hardest to find or feel the leak but nothing.. So what I am asking here is how can I go about trying to find this leak?

You need to put some of the leak detector in that glows(?) -it'll be a bright yellow/green color and will definitely be easy to see.

To add, you will be able to see it with a uv light. The front of the car bears the compressor and condensor, not to mention all of the lines run down the passenger side. An audible leak should be easy to catch without help though.

As was mentioned above, use a UV/black light and UV leak detector. Like RJolly87 said, an audible leak SHOULD be easy to find, without leak detector, but if everything has already leaked out again, then you won't be able to hear anything. So, since you'll have to re-pressurize the system anyway to find the leak, just use a can of UV dye.

Also, you'll need (3) cans of R134a to completely recharge the system, at least one can should include 1st charge lubricant.

Correct, they need to pull a vacuum on it and make sure that holds it, and then re-fill with R134a Refridgerant and the proper PAG oil.

BEFORE you do that..it wouldn't be crazy to replace the orifice tube while you have the system open. And I believe you mentioned you've got some miles on it, so spending about $30 more on a new accumulator wouldn't be nuts either. Just making sure you don't end up with an inefficient system.

Any parts store will do, there is nothing special about them. I haven't heard of any failures due to parts either <oxygen sensors, that's a different story>
