Im having a problem with my tranny that when the car hot it starts to shift hard. its really bad from 1st to 2nd, & Its most noticable when the car is on heavy traffic for long periods.
There was a post where somone mentioned the same simptoms & the cause of it. but now I cant find it.
Can some one help me with some info?

The most likely cause is a sticking pressure control solenoid. It's relatively expensive to have replaced because of the labor needed to get to it. Some have had some relief by putting in a can of Sea Foam's Trans Tune. Installation of a shift kit also seems to by-pass the problem.

Every available option
my hard shift problem has not reoccured since I installed a 180 stat this spring, keeping everything a little cooler. I would start there.

i've been having the same problem, it starts to shift HARD when i'm in traffic and it gets hotter. and when im driving around town, sometimes it seems like it shifts into 3rd or 4th when it shouldn't(going slower). also, today, it started making noise now too. i checked the fluid, theres enough and the color is still good. could i have a solenoid problem and something else, too?

Noise coming from the transmission is generally not a good sign. While the PCS is one cause of hard shifts, there are others. It sounds like it's time for a trip to a tranny shop.

I've heard about this before with the pressure selonoid. In the summer 90+ hot days, my tranny when my engine is about 3500 RPMS or higher tends to make a whine sound. 80's weather and colder, i can race the car all i want, no noise. No hard shifting either.

is this related? The car was at AAMCO about a year ago and they inspected the tranny - came back clean.

Exact same problem with ptrfair in the hotdays. But this was with my previous car, my 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GT. when i stop at a red light and try to go on green, the car feels like its on neutral. i step on the gas all the way and try changing it from D to 3-2 and nothing finally after like 7 sec it grips the gear and jumps and drives again. I just got rid of it ASAP and sold it. I hope i dont have no problems like this with the bonne.

Get the 03+ Hardened 4th output and the revised PCS, if you need either one, and you may need both :(

My guess would be that they just order the parts for an 03 instead of an 02, but I'm not 100% on that one.

Sorry I didnt post sooner. Im still having problems, so Im starting to save some money for an operation.
I see a lot of people here with the same problems, I guess that once the transmissions starts to fail the only remedy is to fix it.
