Year and Trim: 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP
HELP! Has anyone replaced the trunk floor pan, inner wheel wells and the rear shock towers on a 2005 Bonneville GXP or any 2000 thru 2005 Bonneville? :dontknow:
If so, does anyone know where one can get these inner structure body part replacement from and what kind of ballpark cost would you estimate I am looking at for parts & labor?
My right rear shock mount is on attached at the top, the floor and sides of the wheel well has rotted out and I suspect the left side is not far behind.
Any help or advice anyone can offer is gratefully appreciated, because otherwise I am going to have to scrap my Bonne-baby for parts. :helpsmilie:

Hate to say it, but if the rust is that bad, I'd be worried about the spring perches, the front subframe mounting areas, the brake lines, and more. I do no think it is worth saving this thing, and if you consider also the N* might explode at any given moment, you could have many multiple times the car's value going into it to save it from rust and the N*.

Unless you're doing all the work yourself to get a few more years out of her, I'd consider this a lost cause. The work required would easily outweigh the value of the vehicle.

I might be the only one that's had only a fraction of what you're saying done at a shop. I cut the entire right rear wheel house out of a rust free JY car to use a large portion of it in my car. I had the work done professionally but the cost is lumped into quite a bit more and I'm not sure what that would truly go for.

I will say that it would be cheaper to buy a plane ticket to a non-salt belt state and drive home another car though.

Or buy one of Andrew's cars - bonnevillesunlimited.com. Since he's the world's best authority on all things Bonneville, you know you'll be getting a good car from him.

Thanks, but most of my cars are not rust-free. I only get 1 or 2 of those a year and they are spoken for before I can list them.

Going to speak to a metal fabricator about designing a brace to act as and replace the shock tower(s) for the rear end. Just have to find some structure steel underneath the trunk that a brace,/bracket can be welded or bolt through that can support the stress for a shock tower.
