Year and Trim: 2004 Bonneville SLE
Hi guys, new Bonneville (2004 SLE) owner here. Picked this up for my daily commute to work and looking to work a few issues out of her, its in rough shape really. My A/C works (clutch engages when AC selected, hooked a gauge up at the low pressure port and shows full for that days temp, from the low pressure port and up the tube that goes into the firewall, it is nice and cold) but no cold air inside. For fun I swapped out the pressure sensor but since the A/C clutch engages I figured it wasn't that. Mine has the dual digital climate controls and I am assuming it is something with a blend door but am very unfamiliar with these cars at the moment. Any help is appreciated!

Check both tubes at the firewall. they should both feel cold, and the same temp

I will check again this afternoon but IIRC one tube was cold and one was hot. Another person thought if the system had been opened - compressor replaced or something - and the previous owner didn't get the system properly recharged by a service center, it might not work properly, if they just tried to recharge it with the canned stuff.

Is there possibly something in the dash that is not opening to let the cold are circulate?

This. If both are cold, then you have a blend door issue.

I agree, feel the tubes going to the evap core to make sure they are cold.

These cars have variable displacement compressors, which means they can show low side pressures that are close to spec, and still be almost out of refridgerant.

I am also concerned about the pressure switch replaced, as I believe that can't be done without cracking the system open, and you didn't mention anything consistant with having done that (evac, proper charge, etc).

To properly diagnose an A/C system you need to check both high and low side pressure. Separately, If you find the passenger side is cooler than the driver, you maybe low on refrigerant. Search the site for more info.

You can replace the pressure switch without cracking the system open on a 2000+. Done it twice myself.

I'm leaning towards this being the case, I let the car warm to normal temp and had the heat set to 75 blowing out the vents, then with the AC off I set the temp to 60 and external air and both driver and passenger sides get cold (it was 33 degrees outside) so like you said, time to evacuate and recharge. And the replacement fuel sending unit arrives Friday so I can stop watching the trip meter! Yay!
