I wish I could kick whoever's idea it was to put a hundred incandescent bulbs all over the dash, then solder them in place so they can't be switched out. What morons.

Does anyone know what bulb I can use to replace these? The ones in my brightness control, and now my HUD controls are dead, along with some in the radio (of course). I assume I'm going to have to unsolder and resolder new ones in..? I'm tired of buying replacement switch assemblies from the junkyard, only to have them not work, or burn out in a matter of weeks. Ugh.

Same bulbs as you find in the radio. The link is in the common problems and solutions thread. http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=7188

Any chance of using LED's? I know LED's polarity has to be correct or they will not work. I have seen some for sale lately that are "bi-polar" - lol. I think the LEDs look better too. - BC

12 volt leds are not widely available, especially white ones. It'd be a real tight place to stuff resistors into.

When I looked at everything last, it seemed to me that I might be able to squeeze a 5mm white LED and a 1/4 watt 470 ohm resistor laid transversely to the LED. I have been looking for information on either the polarity of the lights or on the pins for illumination on the harness so that I can check it myself. The switch he pictured would be easy to put an LED onto in the manner I described.

Those "Bi-polar" led modules you are thinking about are made using some other hardware that you would not be able to fit. There are also LEDs that accept voltage in 2 different direction, but those are generally low power LEDs that are made to change color when polarity changes. But on your 92, changing bulbs out to LEDs should be easy. Almost everything uses replaceable bulbs.... The HUD uses a cold cathode, so you are gonna have to forget about that, and the switches should leave room for a 5mm LED and a creatively oriented resistor.
