(2003 SSEI) My front mount breaks at least once a year. I had the same problem on my previos 96SE. I had disscussed on the previous Bonneville forums about a high performance mount, Prothane or other companies but no one seems to care about us Bonne owners. I had heard of some guys using Hockey pucks and making there own. Has anybody tried this method for the 2003 model? My mount is broke again and I'd like to make this the last time I replace it. I came up with a design using a lenth of all-thread, some flat washers and nuts, and was going to use some eurothane suspension components. I never called Prothane or Energy Suspension to find an applicaple bushing to use. Looks good on paper but I never carried it out. Now I need another mount. Any ideas? I searched the forum and didn't get any hits on this subject. |

I fabricated the mount using 3 hockey pucks, some washers, end link bushings and drilled everything for a 1/2" x 8" bolt. There is more vibration than I like. The end link bushings I used were cheap off the rack stuff and they don't last. My next try will be to remove the washers near the puck and put in a puck that I shaved off 3/8". Also I picked up a MOOG end link kit and drilled it for 1/2" and will put one under the rad support and one over the trans bracket. If that doesn't please me I will try a completly different design using a clam shell motor mount from a chevy V8 and some creative iron work. Has anyone tried that? |

If you're breaking it or wearing it out that much then you need to look at your other three mounts. They all kind of work together. I bet they're shot. If you replaced them you'd probably have to change the front a lot less often. |

Push an endlink bushing between the frame and the nut on the bottom and between a washer and the bracket on the top. lessens it a lot but yes it will vibrate some because its a solid mount. I like it cause you can "feel" the car more. |
