I have had both these codes pop up and I hate the SES light. I know that they arent that big of deal, but I just hate that dang light. I replaced the purge valve/solenoid and that cleared up the P0440, but I dont know what the 0449 could be. it has been recommended that I replace the evap canister filter, but I cannot seem to locate canister, my haynes manual puts in under the hood the drivers side towards the front. But then again the haynes was written for cars from 1985-2005 for 3 different makes, so who knows where it is really at.

The canister is under the car, roughly under the rear seat. However, that is not likely to be your problem. That code refers to the output driver module (update of the old quad drivers) for the vent valve seeing an improper voltage. Check the wiring going to it and if that appears to be fine, the replace the vent valve. It's located under the car roughly next to the driver's side rear tire.

I think I found it. It is just a black thing that looks as though it is attached to a fuel line on just one side. Red clip with two wires? The wiring looks good I took out the clip and it looks decent, I am looking at autozone's website, and cannot seem to find the part, would it be an admissions part? I would normally order from Rock auto, but I need it before friday. Want that idiot light gone before we head out for the weekend.

That sounds like it. That hose should run to the cannister. I'd suggest to replace the vent valve to see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't, then it will be time to start digging into the wiring.

It is held on the same way that the solenoid is. A rectangular clip that it slides on to. It has a center finger that has to be pushed back to release it, and then wiggle it off. Sometimes, it comes right off...other times it fights you.

You can probably get the part cheaper at Rock Auto, but you will have to wait a few days for it.
