I will be starting this tomorrow evening. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the driver side half shaft or installing the new one? Please let me know.

Be very careful removing the bolts holding the hub in, and use a pry bar on the shaft. Be careful not to pull the inner axle out, and if it comes out, carefully put it back in, don't pull it further out.

Luckily the hub has only been on there about a month or 2 & it was removed last weekend. So it shouldn't be a problem. I have to replace it with a new one already anyway. The speed sensor is shot already.

Is there a trick for removing the 2 bolts on the bottom that hold the shock in place?

You don't need to remove the strut, IIRC. Should come out through the hole in the knuckle.

The hole in the knuckle is too small. The outside cv boot will not fit through.

On my 99 those two bolts were splined, but some people have reported that they have non-splined bolts. I would say loosen them up and pound them out, with the nut still on so you don't damage the threads.

If they are spline bolts, they should still turn when using an impact gun on them, shouldn't' they? I have held the gun on them and they don't turn at all. I have hit them with a mallet on the nut side of them and they don't budge at all.

No they shouldn't turn if they are. It took a pretty big hammer to get them out.

Never impact a bolt if you don't have to. If it has a nut, spin that off if at all possible.

I did, but then the bolt didn't budge. I didn't realize that it needs to be hammered out, otherwise I wouldn't have tried at all.

Got the car all put back together last night. Installed the new half shaft & a new hub. I think that may have fixed my highway vibration issue. Will know for sure after driving to work this week.
