well i've been having issues with my trans since i've had my car. it starts to shift a little hard into overdrive every once and a while and i will keep doing it until i change my trans fluid, then its fine for about 6,000 miles and it does it again until i change the filter and add new fluid, and then once again it fine for a while.

i'm supposed to take the car to Texas in a few weeks 3,000+ mile round trip to go watch my gf graduate boot camp. these problems always happen at the worst possible times.

i just dropped $2,000 into the car doing all routine maintenance and all new shocks struts, mounts and tires to get it ready for the trip. so i'm not in any shape to drop more money for a new trans.

i did some researching and found that the transgo shift kit might eliminate my problem. I have a zzp shift kit right now (the plastic spacer one) and with 161,xxx on the car i would think that maybe the springs in the trans are getting weak and i'm hoping the transgo kit that includes the new springs will help my problem...

i was thinking about adding sea foam trans tune and put on a few miles before i drop my pan and put in this shift kit.

at this point i just wanna make it through my trip.

any help, input is greatly appreciated.

The harsh shifts are often caused by the PCS and generally occurs in the 1 through 3 shifts. Yours may be the TCC solenoid. The Trans Tune could help free that up, and the shift kit may help. Try the Trans Tune and the shift kit that you have on-hand. That could take care of your problem.

i replaced the TCC solenoid and the PCS about 8 months ago and it helped for a while like usual and then the problem came back.

but once again i just wanna make it back from the trip and after that i can see about an overhaul. so i think that's where I'm at until i can find out more.

there is a local tranny shop that will scan and test drive for free. i think i'm gonna bring it there again. he's probably getting sick of me coming in and getting diagnostics done so i can do it myself but oh well.

i checked the fluid and it was about 1/2 qt. overfull. so i drained some out but dont get off work for a while to try it out. could this cause my issue?

the bottle say's that badly worn transmissions may require 2 bottles.

ran the sea foam, dropped the pan, added lucas, and shudder stop. no results
