Seems like 25 percent of the time I start the car the interior fan will not run. Then as I'm driving it will randomly turn on. Once the fan is running it will stay on and work fine. It only does this when the car is started. It never shuts off when running unless you turn it off manually. It will turn back on if turned on. Has anyone experienced this issue?

I think that is normal, because the fan will run when only the temperature of the engine is warming. So it doesn't blow cold air into the passenger compartment. Do you have automatic climate control?? I do on mine. And that's how it operates. Hope this helps.

I do have the auto climate control. It doesn't seem normal when it's 20 degrees out and the fan doesn't come on during a 30 minute drive.

I don't ever recall my fan not running at all in cold weather. I know with the automatic climate control the fan will increase in speed as the coolant warms up. It seems like you may have a bad motor. You should also check the wiring and connector between the fan and control module to make sure there is no corrosion or signs that it got hot and melted. There are some other possibilities as well but this is where I'd start. I had a lot of motors in various cars over the years that needed to be bumped to start spinning but once they were running, kept going until they were shut off again.

I was having the same problem with my 2005SLE.
Sometimes it would run and if you hit a bump it would stop.
It turned out it was a bad motor.
Replaced with a new one and the problem went away.
The fan should run no matter what the temperature is.
