Post subject:  Suspension replacement for 2005 Bonneville GXP (options)

I have a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP and i find out the stock FE5 suspension options have been discontinued by AC/Delco. Ive called around to KYB distributors, arnott inc., and a few online part distributors, and they all say thwy dont habe anyyhing specific to my vehicle. What are my options? What have other owners done if thwy habe found themselves in this position? Im dead in the water and im trying to redue my front and read suspension, bit this is a major block in the road. CAN ANYONE HELP?!!!!!!°

Yeah, won't find FE5 stuff.

They KYB replacement front struts and rear air shocks are the closest you'll realistically get to FE5. I replaced my FE2 shocks with KYB all around and it just feels a tad stiffer.

Sorry, in my post above I was asking if none of those GM part#'s were available? I should have probably made that a better sentence. :)

KYB lists struts for the GXP. The Excel-G if I recall. I know at one time, and I can't remember if this included GXP's, people seemed to like the Monroe Sensatrac's.

If you truly want FE5 stuff, the only route to go is used (for the front), but finding low mileage FE5 front struts is next to impossible. They KYB's are your best bet. You can still buy the FE5 rear air shocks on Rock Auto. They are about $160 per side. Honestly you're better off with some KYB's again. The FE5 rear shocks aren't really worth 5x the price over the KYB's unless you want to autocross your car or something.

Hopefully rock auto has those because the local kyb distributor said they dont make anything specific to my vehicle, atleast not anymore.

And for the record, im in los Angeles county california, and i drive 85-90 like its a everyday thing, and i tend to maneuver through traffic, so i need reliable performance, not granny shocks....but thanks for the info, ill see if I can find those kybs, would you happen to know thw model.of those kyb performance shocks , or a part number?

Shocks don't play as large a role in performance handling. They do help but more so in maintaining suspension composure, they're there to control initial up/down shock impulses and then rebound rates. So anything that will fit the car specifically will be geared more toward handling and you probably wouldn't notice the difference vs. the proper FE5 OEM units. If you look up shocks for a PAU, then yea, the probably have higher rebound rates and ride "softer", but anything listed for a GXP should be within the realm of OEM performance.
