Post subject:  2005 GXP - Transmission Replacement

Hello, I am about to purchase a 2005 GXP with 139,000 on it. Current owner says it needs a new transmission because first and second gears don't work. I owned a 2004 GXP when it was new but sold it a couple years later (had kids) and have wanted one ever since. I have worked on a lot of cars including engine swaps, etc. I am looking for some insight into and tips about any of you who have removed a trans from a GXP. Thanks for the help.

You have to remove the entire drivetrain out the bottom of the car, a lift will be invaluable.

While you have the everything out, it would be a really good time to replace the timing chain guides and tensioners as they are the #2 killer of these engines after the head gaskets.
