Wanting to replace the tires on my GXP, I have a set of Cooper zeon rsa-3 on it now,but the are approaching 6 years old. Been looking at Pirelli P-zero nero all season, and Goodyear Eagle F1. What do you guys think? I read a review on the Goodyear tire that they were noisey. Thanks Mark |

Tirerack.com is your friend. Continental Extreme Contact DWS (or if those aren't available, DWS 06, which supercedes the older DWS), > * It is flat out is the best tire for the money and comes in 235/50/18. Case in point; - Continental Extreme Contact DWS 05 - 4.5 stars (score = 8.6/10) - $152.36/tire. - Continental Extreme Contact DWS - 4 stars (score = 8.2/10) - $144.45/tire on a special closeout. - Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus - 4 stars (score = 8/10) - $194.55/tire. I've had DWS, DWS 06 or DW's on my Bonneville, Impala and Cadillac. |

I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus and think they're the best tires I've ever had on this car. If they were available in the correct sizes for my STS, I'd have a set on that car as well. |

Both Continentals are Ultra High Performance. Grand Touring tires are going to favor treadwear and ride comfort over performance. Ultra High Performance are going to favor performance over treadwear and ride quality. Both the Bridgestone and the Pirelli are substantially more expensive, but you're paying for that treadwear rating and mileage warranty (ask any Michelin owner about that ). Again, for the record, all tires mentioned in this thread are excellent tires. They just have different core designs. So it depends on what you're looking for and how much you want to pay. |

I used to buy nothing but Michelin, however many of their tires have left me disappointed over the past ten years. I have been surprised at how noisy some of them have been, many have developed a vibration over time (despite regular alignments and road force balancing). Tread life has never been an issue though. I've had to get rid of many long before the tread was worn down on both my cars. The exception has been Michelin winter tires. These have always worked very well for me and I continue to select these as my first choice. My STS currently has Nitto Motivo tires. These have been a reasonable choice as well, but as nice as my Pirelli's. They are made in a size for the GXP, I'm just not sure how well they do in the winter. One practice I always follow is to spend whatever money I need to on excellent tires and brakes. I won't cut costs here. |

Tread and UV protection breakdown are their big issues. I've had numerous sets of Michelin's replaced under warranty. Will here did also. He was none to happy with having to replace his Pilot Sports... Nothing wrong with spending whatever money for excellent tires and brakes. But all these tires mentioned are virtually identical in all performance measures. Some have higher treadwear ratings, others have much lower cost. There is no right or wrong answer. I'm a performance for the price person. You seem to be a longevity for the price person. Again, neither is a right or wrong answer. It's not like we're comparing these tires to some cheap chinese knock-off brand like Goodmonth, Uniunroyal, BF Badrich, Countinental, Purrelli or something... Or dare I say OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A's! |

There's not much to be said for the Eagle RS-A's that came on the car... literally. Horrible tires! |

I installed Goodyear Eagle F1 (all seasons) on my '05 GXP. I like the grip, low noise and ride quality of these tires. However, I can't keep these tires in balance! I had the right rear tire replaced twice and it still won't balance even with road force balancing. I'm so frustrated that I will never buy a Goodyear product again. I have the Continental Extreme Contacts DSW 06 on my '11 Challenger and love them! Highly recommended just like others have said in this thread. Just my $.02. |

I had issues with F1 A/S's on on my GXP also. The balancing issue as well as the fronts wore exceptionally fast. However, I have this tire on the GTO and they've been absolutely great and look awesome. |

EXACTLY!! considering that we drive luxury sport sedans, I favour ride and comfort/quitness over performance the car cant maintain in the 'twisties'( she aint no W-body ) safely. plus, you get 25% more life of tire at only 21% more cost, by your prices.........lol Ok Mark, you should now have more than enough info to make a wise choice............lol |

Not all-season tires, but I had a set of ET Street S/S. These Mickey Thompson tires were awesome. Very sticky and stable on the road, though didn't last very long. Right now, I run Conti DWS. So far, I have no complaints. Cornering is good. |

LOL! I wouldn't recommend a drag strip tire for a street car. |
