So dad told me the other day that he smelled burning oil coming from the GXP when he stood outside it. I'm gonna go double check that the oil filter isn't leaking, and that the cap is tight. If it isn't either of those, what are we looking at here?

Ed, it could be the oil cooler lines. I just replaced mine last night. Took about two hours.

If you look at the lines and see oil around the crimped fittings then those are the problem.

Well he hasn't lost any yet, which is a decent sign. Did you smell it? They go underneath to the radiator, correct? I'm assuming they leak at the crimp joint from the metal to the rubber, like all GM's other leaky lines.

haha...I was editing my post when you posted.

I could smell oil but only occasionally. That didn't concern me to much as I wasn't seeing any oil loss. However, I noticed a few weeks ago a few drips in the driveway. Looked under the car and there was oil everywhere. Freaked me out at first but then I saw the oil around the crimped fittings.

They actually fit along the rad at the bottom.

They're seeping, but I don't think they're his main issue. The pan gasket seemed to be seeping a bit, so I gave every bolt I could get to got another 1/4 turn. I still really don't know his main issue though.

I looked at his PS fluid, and it was low, but it didn't seem to be leaking or getting burned everywhere. I added some Lucas with Stop Leak, so hopefully that will stay full.

I'm going to have them take it to the dealer and get the trans fluid changed and the coolant flushed, and have them look around for the oil leak, but not do anything tell they call with a quote.

Cam cover gaskets. Oil seeps down, hits the manifolds. Have you NOT read my posts in here... :) There isn't any N* that won't see this at some point in the life of the vehicle.

Also, the front cam cover has a camshaft seal on it too. It is behind the water pump pulley on the drivers side. This can wear and leak too, seeping down the head, onto the exhaust manifold. If you replace the front cam cover gasket, you'll need to remove it anyway, so replace it then.
