I purchased a 5000k HID H3 kit from v-leds.com, and thought I would share my install notes and also I have some questions.

Taking off the headlight assembly and removing the foglight assembly was definitely the way to go here.

Stupidest connector ever:

...and I broke it.

After re-gluing the connector, I had to cut the rubber piece in order for the bulb and cables to fit between the hinge piece to hold the bulb in place.

Test fit and making sure they work:

Now here come the questions. In my process of removing the fog light assembly, I believe I turned the adjustment screw by mistake thinking that one was one of the bolts to remove the assembly. How do I get my fog lights aimed properly? Also, if anybody else has installed this or a similar kit, where is the best place and method to mount the ballasts?

I have ordered from DDM in the past and can honestly say I have never had issues. The only reason I went with v-leds this time cause DDM can sometimes be slow to ship. I've got 8000k 35W in my lows and fogs on my Chevy Colorado, and love them.

Beam pattern shots of those fogs?

Ddm is nice and cheap but be aware that their ballasts are pretty unreliable.

I don't have a beam pattern shot as I'm pretty sure I've got to get them aimed correctly. I will finish mounting ballasts today and hopefully this evening get some pictures up.

Does the 3000K match the stock headlights pretty closely?

No, 3000k is a yellow-gold color. It's good for inclement conditions, as it cuts through fog better. 4300k is an OE "color", mostly white in color, very little blue.

Stock halogens are about 3900K when new, they drop down in color temp a little when they get old but don't quite approach 3000k.

After a brief delay, got the foglights installed, along with a 5000k hid lowbeam setup as well. Oh yeah, it matches my Colorado :)

Also have amber LEDs in the turns, but I haven't cleared them yet. Not sure I want to do it to the GXP headlights.

Isn't that the camera? I wasn't exactly on a level surface. I dunno should I turn them down?

You're blinding the f00k out of oncoming traffic.

Without a projector retrofit, your beam pattern is scattered everywhere. While your lights are brighter, the actual quality of the beam is WORSE and you're blinding oncoming traffic. You can aim then lower, but now you're just lighting the road with glare, and your already bad headlight performance becomes worse.

I'm saving up for this retrofit kit for my low beams:

Hmm, well the HID's I had didn't cost me anything which is why I put them in. But I see your point. After some reading, and just to be sure, you don't have to hack up the headlights? That would seriously bother me. Would you go with both highs and lows or just lows? I'm on vacation from my job until I leave for Iraq in three weeks so I've got some time to kill and this would be a cool project.

To compensate for the lack of funds, I've been doing a lot of research lately and the Morimotos seem to be the kit that will require the *least* amount of work. They are a very compact projector. I'm not sure if our headlights in particular will require cutting, but I don't plan on hacking up a GXP headlight ($$$), so if it comes down to it, I'll source a pair of non-GXP lights to do the retrofit on.

I'm replacing the low beam spot only, but I am going with a bi-xenon projector. This means that the low-beam projector will handle both low and high beam. This YouTube video explains bi-xenon way better than I can: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFF2XoZJIBo&t=3m51s

Yeah that video explained a lot. I'm currently looking for non-gxp lights to try this.

So how do Morimotos work? You install something where the bulb would go, and the projector mounts to it?
