...for a 97, would it fit? I'm guessing "NO!", but then again it might. I think the SSE grill looks better, without the chrome trim ring, and if it would fit, I would seek one out rather than the SE one (either way, I need to fix mine/replace it at some point). This should be an easy one, just thought I'd ask....

Bump. Nobody, seriously? I just want to know if it would fit, not if anyone has the grill. Anyone?

I think it will. I'm not 100% sure though.

Yeah it should fit but it won't have the chrome trim that the cladding and bumper do.

No, it won't fit perfectly. It will bolt to the hood, & it will fit between the lights, but it won't align with the bumper correctly.

Like how do you mean? As in it doesn't follow the bumpers contour the same way, or it's too tall and the hood won't close properly, or it will look funny because it will be too far back/too far forward (like an overbight! :) )?

Doesn't follow the bumper.

...but it looks like it does.

Could anybody photoshop one in and see? I see what you guys are saying - the SE grill sort of sticks out in a little bit of a different way, but from what I can tell, both bumpers still come to that 'point' in the middle, and it seems that if it's confirmed that the SSE grill would allow the hood to close, would fit between the headlights, etc., the worst that could happen is that if there's a weathered spot on the bumper that the grill usually covers up, that weathered spot may then show a little bit. I dunno...I still haven't located a junkyard around here. That would help.

Haro - PERFECT - thank you! That's EXACTLY what this thread needed. And, it looks just like how I thought it would look. I REALLY like the look of that. So...I'm going to be seeking out an SSE grill as a replacement rather than an SE grill. Thanks again Haro, I appreciate the post. Oh - one thing - are any mods to the mounting hardware necessary, or does it use the same holes/same hardware/direct replacement?

The SE bumper cover dips down under the grill, the SSE cover is straight across. You will have a noticeable gap under your SSE grill. You noticed that right?

Mounting will be the asme.

By the way, if you ever need to compare years and trim levels like this again, wjcollier made this great site: http://bonnevillepics.com/bccars/index.htm

Yeah, I noticed. I still like the look of the SSE grill better to make that compromise though.

Actually Id like to see the SE grill without the chrome trim or have it painted the body color.
