I am going to the junkyard to get a tailight housing for my 89 and want to upgrade the stock speakers in the front dash(3.5") and the rear decklid(6x8"'s?). I want something plug and play and am wondering if the 92-99 Bonnevilles, Delta 88's, or LeSabres, speakers will be plug and play and if so which setup/years are the best?

My stock speakers are toast in the front and the right rear as well so I'm just looking for a cheap upgrade to plug in to the stock head unit.

The best bet is most likely economy aftermarket in regards to audio. Anything beyond the standard setup would be complicated to swap over and may not be everything you are hoping for.

I would be inclined to grab a Strut tower Bar if you don't already have one.

I was hoping a standard setup would swap over from a newer model and be of better quality and simple to install. I do have a set of aftermarket 4" speakers but the stock fronts in the dash toward the windshield are 3.5". Is it possible to fit 4" somehow?

Thanks for reminding me about the strut bar, I will definately pick one up as well!

I have (had) a 7-band equalizer head unit in my lesabre, from a mid-90's GP, only needed to switch the connector in the dash to the one on the stereo with no extra wires required. Those units are a lot better than the ones the older cars shipped with.

I would not use junkyard speakers, being essentially paper and usually left exposed directly to the elements, they would be in similar condition as yours. I would also buy aftermarket.

I have gotten lucky and found decent aftermarket FR speakers in a lot of cars, they are too difficult for most people to remove. I scored a set of infinity 4x6s, sony 5.25s, etc. 6x9's are easier to get, and people tend to keep them.

If the speaker seat is the same design as the Olds Cutlass Ciera, then you can't enlarge the holes for the 4" speakers.

Honestly, even the cheapest aftermarkets will be an improvement over what you have now. Since they will work. :P

I also agree! Just go get some cheap best buy ones and for ease of installation just get some insulated crimp connectors since it is low powered and really doesn't need soldering to improve anything, or check http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ or http://www.crutchfield.com/S-N4Jiu4cEWlO/. Don't get junkyard speakers because you won't find anything of quality and reliability.
