My 1995 SE has the standard 6x9's but I do have a set of SSEi grilles with tweeters. How much and where do I cut to fit these? Couldnt find anyone but Willwren who has done this before.

I can shoot a pic for you today. Are you only doing the tweeter grilles, or are you doing the full conversion?

The cuts are ugly, but they can be since the grilles cover them entirely. I used tin snips and very little patience. It worked well for me.

I hope just for looks. I doubt you'll really notice the difference in sound unless you do the full upgrade (which isn't much work, and VERY much worth it). I'll dig into the car this afternoon. I'm actually getting off work almost on time today!

Well i have subs for the bass, and Polk 6x9s for the back speakers. I just want a little better sound stage.

You may consider changing the tweeters out. Stick with polk to keep the dynamics covered. I DID shoot pics, I'll post 'em up in the morning, have a ton on my plate right now.

Creativity. Depends on the size of them, how you can hack the grille underneath, etc.

Easy for you to say son :) (says Dad's wallet)

All jokes aside, He has managed to do many small fixes and improvements to the 95 just by using this forum. His sound system is starting to sound really balanced to my tin ears now lol

<----proud Dad!

Laugh at my hack job, but it covers up completely, so I didn't care. Besides, this car is my beater. I would have probably removed the rear deck to do the Zilla, but it's already more upgraded than this:

Basically you're just making room for the tweeter to drop in so the grille sits flush. Take a little bit at a time, and make sure your grille position is correct. If you do it right, the grille will cover all the ugliness just fine.

Dad, even with my failing hearing (F-4 Phantom jet engine and gunfire damage), good audio still sounds great. I often wonder though, just how good it sounds to other people (what it REALLY sounds like, no just that they like it). My 'other green supercharged car' is the same JVC DVD HU with JL Audio all the way around, including a custom quick-disconnect 10" sub and amp in the trunk. Easy to remove for a track run or for hauling bags of concrete home.

I repainted mine too (they had spots of rust from exposure at the wrecker). And yes, it's a pain. Now imagine doing that with a tinted rear window I didn't want to scratch.

Dang that must of been hard. I did my with the back deck out. Mine have rust too. So I painted the tweeter grills red, then the other grill part will be charcoal gray, and Im thinking about painting a body color green pontiac symbol on there.
