Post subject:  2018 Bonneville goals

hey every one, hope you had a great holiday. I'm hoping you guys can help me make sure i do this the right way.

so for my Bonneville i would like to set a gaol that by the end of 2018 or so i would like to have it ready or close to being able to turbo charge it to make something around 500+ hp or so. now from what i understand i would probably have to replace most parts of the engine as i have an L36. i found a web site that sales a tcm that says it works with the 4t65e transmission, and i plan on using a haltech ecu for the engine. im sure some of you will say just get a L67. if you think i would have to do less work then i might, but if i have to replace the pistons and rods i mite just use my engine or get another L36 so i can still drive the car while i work on the engine.

i have the 4t60e transmission so i will have to find a 4t65e-hd , but my question is is there anything i can do to make it work with 500+ish hp?

i have some friends that own a auto shop that can help me with the stuff i have never done before. My reason for this post is so i make sure i get the right parts to do this right and make sure i replace what needs to be replaced. I may be missing some thing and if i am just let me know. and im sure there are probably threads already like this but i didn't want to do this the wrong way because i forgot to ask a question or something that would cause the engine to kill itself.

what and where are the best performance parts for the 3800? i know of zzperformance.com but are there ay other places to get parts or is zzperformance.com the best place? the reason i ask is becuase i have a 1995 pontiac bonneville and some of the parts i saw on zzperformance.com say 1996 and up.

I'm sure that you can get some parts from the 4L60E upgrades ( such as the beast sunshell ) etc that will work with the 4T60/65e as they are ultimately the same transmission with different outputs. I'd be hard pressed to think that the hard parts are different. You definitely want the hardened sunshell to handle that kind of power. I think I would concentrate my efforts on beefing up the transmission to handle the proposed power before I dug into the engine, unless you can afford to eat up a transmission and deal with the consequences of a catastrophic failure.

I'm betting that if you search the forums on building a good transmission with the guys that have to back up their 5.3's in the GXP Gran Prix's, you'll find a good amount of info.
