Hey guys just some general questions I’ve got, I’ve got a 96 Bonneville sse no supercharged engine, I love this car because it’s an Ohio car but in MINT condition so it’s not going anywhere but I want to put in a supercharged 3800 series 2 with a bigger cam and stuff but my main concern is the computer, I found 3 engines at the new Youngstown u-pull it, one is from an impala ss another is from a Grand Prix and the last is from a regal. I’m wondering which car is the best candidate computer wise, for example my car has a sunroof and say the Grand Prix doesn’t, does the Grand Prix computer still have the option for the sunroof even if the car doesn’t have it? Another concern is the transmission will my original blot up I really don’t want to put one in from the Grand Prix because I had a Monte Carlo ss that had a bad trans, so I guess the question is what would be the best transmission to pair up with the supercharged engine, any comments are welcome you guys may have points that I haven’t thought of, thanks! |

the HD one is for the l67 - h4t65- e HD the sunroof is probably controlled through the body module not the main PCM |

You have a 4t60-e. If you were going to put a stock L67 in, I would say you should be fine keeping your 60 as long as you don't do a bunch of burnouts.. And if that were the case, your only stock computer option is the 96 SSEi computer but the trans gear ratio will be different. The L67 flexplate is drilled for a larger torque converter bolt pattern found in the L67. Many have used the L36 flexplate without issue. The 97+ 4t65-HD has a better track record with modded L67s. It has a larger diff and more vanes in it's pump. You'll need one from an h-body car, or at least one with rear transmission mount webbing. You'll need different axles and a shorter passenger axle. What year you choose my limit your pcm options. |

I've done something very similar to this with my 96. Take a look at my builds. That said, try to stay with other h car ecus as it will be easier. If you are going to mod the l67, try to find a 98 or 99 4t65ed-hd. This will drasticly save headaches on wiring. Then it's just a couple of pins to move at the c101 |

So if I were to do all this work is the supercharger even worth it? Or should I just use my stock engine and rebuild it which has 85k on it and turbo it with a bigger cam and some other upgrades, I don’t need a race car I’m just looking for a bit more power and a bit more noise. |

A little contradictory there? Dont need a racecar but turbo+cam? Your stock trans wont last over stock L67 power levels. Stock short blocks have seen 10s and even 9s I think. No reason to rebuild. |

The whole appeal of the L67 is that you get a crazy reliable drivetrain with more power. So, is it worth it? I guess, you have to consider, a stock L67 drivetrain is good for just as many miles as a N/A, with just a bit more power and a bit more noise. And of course, many aftermarket parts, and what have you... The best route is the harness from a '97-'99 SSEi, re-pin the firewall connector, use the 4t65e-hd (as long as it has the drivers side rear motor mount bolt holes). PCM, well, I think the '98 grand prix PCM is the godfather of 3800 swaps in that it just doesn't give a hoot, but all of my 3800 swap projects have a '97-'99 SSEi PCM to start with, and they have been both re-flashed to the 'best' OS and tuned from there. Engine and trans you can pull from almost any L67; harness, pcm, axles, heater and coolant hoses, trans cooler lines, oil cooler lines, etc have to come from a '97-'99 SSEi. If you haven't figured this out by now, the ideal donor is a '97-'99 SSEi. |

No reason to rebuild. You are most definitely correct there it is quite contradictory but at the moment I’m not sure what I want to do and what more importantly is what the best thing to do is. |
