OK, so I am changing my rear wheel bearings on my 92 bonneville today, after getting it in the air, tearing evyerthing apart, and removing the bolts, the hub would not come out, I spent 3 hours trying about everything, lots of spray, hitting with a sledgehammer, tried using a chisel on the corners to pond it and hopefully break it loose little at a time, nothing worked. So I rented a slidehammer, that was a no go, hub wouldnt budge. So I had a smoke and cracked a beer to brainstorm, then it hit me. I used a couple lugnuts and put the drum back on backwards, for banging area. then picked up an old 4x4 wood post from the back yard, used it as a battering ram from the center of the backend of the car at an angle directly at the drum wich now had plenty of area for contact. 6 hits and the hub popped right out. Just putting this useful tip out there for someone in the future working on an older car with rusted in hubs. It only took 5 minutes from time I thought of it til I was putting in the new hub. A 4x4 post wouldve costed less than the chisel I bought for nothing anyways. Even less time total for the other side, because i found out that if I didnt remove my brake shoes and hardware, I didnt have to pound the backing plate off the old hub. Although id suggest not ried it that route, it might damage your brakes. Hope this helps someone in the future, wish I'd seen a suggestion on this earlier.
