I had never drag raced before, but i knew i was going to have traction issues. Didnt realize how bad it would be though. I believe my best 60' was like a 2.5 but the car managed to break the 12s. Barely. 12.89@109. Guess i shouldnt expect to be able to launch with 20s. Hah

More tuning, maybea drop in tire pressure and trick the elc next time and see if i can knock out a decent run. Ive also been trying to decide if i should install the 3.29 setup i have.

3.29 is going to mean that you smoke the tires the whole length of the strip instead of half of it...

You should maybe try the 18's that you have, see if you could scrounge up some decent tires. Even that little bit more sidewall would make a difference...

Theyre only 7.5" wide though. My 20s are 8.5".

Ill see what i can find for really really cheap. Its not a big thing for me so im not going to dump a lot of money into making it faster in the quarter.

Nice. You can usually find GP guys unloading cheap drag wheel setups, but your front brakes are limiting you. Still, a 12.89 first try isn't bad at all. Considering no grip, and your first time.

It can only get better.

Ha ha ha! complaining about a 12.89 run. That's the times NHRA A Super Stock Automatics ran on a good day. I can remember when it was a miracle for a DD to break into the 12's with several years wages "invested" in the car. You should be proud for a first time run. You did GOOD! - BC

THanks guys.

Its not that im complaining really... The car needs more tuning and I never really had drag racing in mind when I was putting it together. My lack of experience is obviously a HUGE factor as well. What I will say though is that the last couple years of seeing other cars with drastically fewer mods go much much faster has really driven home the point that was made to me long ago: don't mod that car. All these G8s and GTOs with a cam and headers are fast as stink. I see ls2 gtos for 10k every day.

Theres definately a pride of ownership though. Theres not much I havent fiddled with or somehow messed up on that car. Who knows what obscure sad life it would be living if I had sold it.

Nice time and trap.
If you only ran a 2.5 60', you're easily 11s with a 2.0 60'.

Faster and cheaper isn't always the way to go, I love LS cars but the problem is everything has already been done to them. Go to a statewide meet for any of them and 50+ cars show up and unless you have a full tube chassis drag car there will always be 10 other cars exactly the same as yours. In our small world you are one of a kind and will get much more respect anywhere you go for that except from people that have small minds and think it isn't cool unless it's right wheel drive and LS or Coyote powered.

With these, you can go to a huge National event and you are the only one. You, pat, Booze, Andrew, Mike, Darcy, and a few others even though somewhat similar are different enough to not be the same and never would you encounter another at the local grocery store. I am way more impressed with your car pulling a 12.89 then I would be with another GTO, Mustang, Camaro, Challenger etc.. in the 11s.

That's E85 Evo territory. Best my buddy did was a 12.6 IIRC.

Great time for that 60 foot.
My best 60 foot was 1.91 so yes you should be in the very low 12's with traction.
I run 275mm wide MT Drag radials @ 20 psi on my stock 7.5" rims.......took me from 2.3 60 foots

So, bad news... My 60' time on the 12.9 run was actually 2.033. So that sucks. Turns out the car is just kinda slow for what I have into it.

You have a quick and fast Bonne.

Traction issues. Spinning halfway down the track.

2.0 60 ft?

Okay, guy.

Those kind of traction issues is a 2.5 60 foot
2.0 grabs pretty good.

That's still not to shabby. A new stock 350HP SS396 Chevelle automatic, with limited slip differential was doing good with that time. - BC
