Yup... I sure did. I was driving on a rural road in South Amherst, doing 55.

Came to the Russia Road/Pyle-South Amherst Rd. intersection. Pulled away from the intersection, and accelerated to 55, no more than 2 seconds after I hit 55, WHAM! there were the lights out of nowhere. Apparently at the intersection, the road changes from 55 to 35, so I got slapped with a 54 in a 35. Quite pissed off, but apparently there was a 35mph sign back near the intersection, and by the time I saw the next one, he got me. Oh well..... gotta learn eventually.

55 in a 35 can't be that much. lol Ohio is bad for that isn't it? i've been pulled over multiple times, and gone 50 over the limit past a cop... not a single ticket!

Well....

I am ABSOLUTELY... COMPLETELY, 100% FOOKED.

My fine? Yeah... heh...

$340!!!!!

So unfortunately, I am totally screwed to the point to where I either A - Need to sell my car or B - Lose my license, and sadly, "A" is more of a reality than B is.

HOLY CHRIST!! :eek2:

my last few speeding tickets were like $142 for going 15 over. Were you in a construction or school zone or something? That fine just sounds outrageous to me if not.

Hmm... well what shall I do? I am being told that my fine is TOTALLY blown out of proportion. I had 2 people that are 35+ tell me that they got busted in the same city, and their fines were only around $100-150 including court costs. Is it possible that I am being screwed over because I am younger?? Even my Dad says $340 is far too much, and he was busted on the Turnpike doing 89 in a 65, and his fine was only $200.

well I think if you get a ticket in a school zone or construction zone the fine is doubled. That could explain you takin it on all fours. If you weren't in such a zone that sounds way too high.

I called Oberlin Muni Court and gave them my Ticket number, and they told me the fine, which includes court costs. Still, far FAR too much for what I did. Heck, in my town, the fine for 20 over is only $125, plus court costs.

The new reality (add to this that we are in an election year) is that municipalities are being faced with exorbitant gas prices also. Where else to make up the shortfall than in citations.

I predicted this quite a few months ago, that governments and municipalities would be driven to extremes to increase revenues because of the gas prices. The fleets of law enforcement must be resourced from somewhere, and the sheep must pay. (I am not picking on law enforcement as there are a host of other governmental vehicles affected, law enforcement is just the most visible, and the one means by which revenues can be increased on short order.)

Once the actual budget numbers hit the table, the onslaught of citations will increase. Please believe.

With this ticket you have I would go to court and talk to the prosecutor and see if you can get it reduced. When you are young and have a clean driving record sometimes they will throw the ticket out or cut it in half, maybe even by 2/3's but you have got to try. Just ask the prosecutor before court or even when your case is called. If they are too busy I would explain my financial situation ultimately to the judge. "Ask and it shall be given."
