Going to run the 1320 tonight for the first time in a FWD car with lots of power. I've run FWDs at the track before but never anything with so much power. Anything with some real guts has always been rwd and awd. Going with two friends that are running G35 and G37 coupes. Those cars can run in the 14's but only with excellent drivers. I'd like to hang with them if they run so/so times because of driving skill. lol

From what I've read, the best launch technique is to powerbrake a bit and then just let off and roll into the throttle. Seems like the best way for me especially since my engine mounts are in crappy condition and I sometimes get wheel hop.

My 99 SSEi is all stock except for a rice pipe and cone filter. I also added a big heatshield over the exhaust cross over and turned the pcm on its side.

I dyno'd the car at 209whp and 278 ft lbs last weekend on a dynojet. Any predictions?

I'm gonna say 15.1. That's what I ran with no track prep @ rock falls (Eau Claire WI) all day. My first run was a 14.8 and I got worse all day. At that time I had a 3.4 MPS, Intake, Tune (which we're discovering was sh*t) and a 180° thermostat.

You're spot on, power brake to 2k or so and roll in as quickly as possible. The biggest thing you can do is drop your front tire pressure to 20 and tune from there, and keep your rear tire press as high as possible (max cold press). That way you get good traction and have low rolling resistance from the trailing tires. Doing this I've run a 2.1x 60' on street tires. Just make sure you have a place to fill your tires back up.

If you can hit a 2.2 60ft youll do 14.9X

I had a CAI, Front trans mount, ELC trick and I ran a 14.98 on street tiress.

Honestly my best times have been without doing the ELC BS. I ran a 9.3 1/8 mile, which equals a 14.5 or so 1/4, and didn't do the ELC.

The problem is when all that force is exhibited on the front tires they just spin, whereas if it squats it helps some of the instant torque goes away from the tires and you can actually get some grip on street tires. Drag radials or slicks? Definitely think the ELC trick will help out.

Actually I think it helps weight distribution to the front so they plant more.

IDK. I'm just theorizing here Jake, lol. I'm not sure how to ELC trick the 92-99 tho.

My ELC doesn't hold air. I tried the trick one day for fun but it doesn't pressurize. I figured it worked since the back end never sits low and I herd the compressor cycle. I pulled the fuse to keep from wearing it out until i find/fix the leaks.

Yeah I'll be happy with low 15's for sure. Temps should be good for making boosted power but might get too cold for traction later on.

I wonder how much of a PITA it is to remove the driver side headlight?

Not sure on 92-99's. I know 00+ it's two bolts and one wiring connector. Would definitely help with ram air though.

Didn't bother with removing the headlight. I decided I wanted to run in pretty much street trim so I didn't even clean all of my crap out of the car. I did however air down the tires to since the track was slick. EVERYONE was having problems hooking up, even the awd guys. The track was pretty empty from the time it opened and started to get busy close to 10.

I blew the tires away the first few runs but I managed to nail down my best run of the night

RT: .375
60' 2.250
330 6.291
1/8 9.657
mph 73.56
1k 12.536
1/4 14.969
mph 93.70

The car ran slower from there on but it was pretty consistent when I had a good launch. From 15.0X to 15.2X The track started to go away and I couldn't get much better than 2.35 60's

I really need a tune to turn my rad fans on at a lower temp to go along with my 180 degree thermostat. Hell... I just want a tune now too and a pulley...and some headers......annnnnnd maybe a heat exchanger. lol

I didn't beat those infiniti's they ran 14.5's and 13.9's.

Very nice for your mods. A good track, weight reduction, some new engine mounts, a smaller pulley and exhaust will have you in the mid-low 14's easy.

Yeah I'm happy with the car for sure. How many people can say they have dipped into the 14's with 4 doors in street trim (including a baby seat :))for under $600 total investment? I also get about 22mpg with mixed driving (lots of WOT too)

I wish it wasn't so late in the racing season... I want to mod and go back to the track.

Just think of it this way. You now have all winter to repair, replace and mod and be ready to rock & roll this spring!

Cayuga's track prep was pretty lousy when I went in August... they don't seem to do much for late-season test and tune or slow nights.

Well it was ricer day, and most of those guys destroy stuff if they hook, so they don't prep to avoid everyone having to drag their cars off the track...

Somehow I think high torque nose-heavy FWD cars like ours present just as much a traction and prep issue as these ricers :P

Two cars broke that night. One was a beat Integra and a turbo'd 328 E36 BMW. I was racing the bmw at the time (spanking him as he did fought off wheel spin) I talked to him at the end of the track. "I was too proud to get beat by 'that' and pushed the car too hard" He pointed to my car. lol
