1987 VW Scirocco GTX
It is one of the most agile cars I know, even as stock version.
700kg and the 1.8L 140hp engine are a good combination
But the best thing is the super low point of gravity.
With some mods it is quite badass.

I drove Sciroccos as daily driver for over 15 years.. so I have strong connection to them. I love the Giugiaro design in general, and this is one of the affordable ones.

I bought it in a stock condition. Needed to swap some parts. It was quite work to get it that shiny.




In 2022 some "Enviorment Punks" pushed my car into a entrance to an underground car park. It was warm Oktober day in a residence area on private ground. So my door window was open. They released the park break and pushed the car down... concrete did the rest of that work. Nobody knows who they were.





I can't praise my auto body mechanic enough. The entire body was professionally brought back into shape on a straightening bench so that any deformation/torsion can be ruled out. My red Scirocco needed to be a donor for the white one. But that was ok. The red one was in bad condition and planned to be a donor.









I took this chance to overhaul the suspension and bushings. It is now lowered, has racing gas shocks. Much better swaybars, some polybushings.... I also installed the white corner turn signals... much better.



This year plans:
Great Service. Timing belt need to be replaced.
Swap the shifting rods and joints for short shifting and higher presicion
High performance clutch
Steering swap to powersteering, otherwise it is not legale to
swap the 14" bottle cap rims to my 15" BBS cross spoke rims.
Hopefully I find the time to do all this stuff (I guess I have to much cars)

She's a looker, for sure!!

Leave it to some of those fake protestors to cause that damage; but you did a great job getting her back to the way she was.

Once you drove one, your soft spot turns into a strong wish to have it. Combination weight, small wheelbase, low center of gravity let you feel like been sucked to the street. Specally the 16V is a killer.

Corrado is super nice too. But in general to chubby. It is ~1500kg. And the VR6 engine has the same temper like my bonneville. I'm not shure if the corrado was sold with a G60 engine in USA. But if it is well maintained, it is the best for the Corrado. The 16V in Corrado is like a sloth.

An if you want it really badass, you put the G60 engine into a Scirocco with a 6-gearbox. It is all out of the same box of bricks. so it is just a bold in tuning. In Germany nearly impossible to get is steet legal. But if you do so, you have something we call "Ringtool". I live next to Nürburgring. So I guess what it mean G60 are good for 200+ hp

We had G60 Corrados over here but many prefer the VR6 (SLC trim). There are quite a few VR6 swapped G60s and they go for much less than a typical SLC.

I like the 318ti since it has a similar silhouette but would need an I6 of some sort to make it fun.

That IS cool. Do you do a lap on your way to work in the morning? LOL! I live a few short miles (as the crow flies) from the Bonneville Salt Flats. I could probably see them from my office window if the Stansbury mountains weren't in the way. I have to go around those mountains and the Great Salt Lake in order to get to the Flats so, no, I don't make a high-speed run on the way in to work (before you ask). But it is cool living pretty close to a place you go mash the throttle to the floor and keep it there until your engine can no longer breathe. Nurburgring is just as cool.

I don't know much about Siroccos, but from what you describe (low CG, light, small) sounds a bit like my wife's Civic Si. That thing is a hoot to drive. Prolly not as raw as your Sirocco, but the Si sticks to the road and the turbo and 6 speed manual just add to the fun.

Well Nürburgring or "The Green Hell" .

Driving there needs you and your car needs to be in exellent condition. And it is super stress for the material and driver. If you have a accident, no insurence care, even it was not your fault.
Lot of people do not know that it is in the hills and forrest, they are not flat and it can be, that the track has different condition wet/dry/dirt/leafs/ even snow. It is no big issue to get fresh brakes and tires worn out after a couple of laps. At Nordschleife it is 80% driver skills and 20% good material.
It is privat property so you cannot just take a ride there. If you want to drive the "Nordsschleife" it is minimum 30 per lap, the Grand-Prix-Course is 35 bucks per 15 Minutes.

You are right with your Honda. They are good sportiy and they have kicking engines. But I'm more a fan of older cars. New cars are so chubby and the CG is to high.
