Not much happened today, so I got proper pictures.

Also Lane or anybody else who might know, best way to repair the parking brake? From what I can tell, there's a plastic rod that connects to another one with what looks like a ring holding them together. That ring is broken.

Also got the radio from the Grand Prix installed.

I can't say I've seen/read failures on them, so I can't add any enlightenment.

Have you checked the tech sections of LS1GTO.com If it has happened, then you'll find it there.

Did a quick search on ls1gto and I found it. Took me 10 minutes to fix it. What happens is that over time the plastic rod that clips to the ratcheting mechanism pops out which causes it to not lock. I drilled a hole and tied it up with mechanics wire. And for the first time ever, I have a car where every single thing works.

And it has the proper cylinder count, transmission choice and funnels it's power to the right axle. ;)

I haven't really done too much to the car lately other than oil and trans fluid change, but I did take it to the track and I ran a horrible time, and I'm pretty sure it was from the shifter and it's long throws. If I wasn't missing third I'd miss fourth. This caused me to do my second mod.

After

It's called Lou's short stick and it made a huge difference for me in regards to shift speed and not missing gears. And while I was at it I got a 2 pool ball knob since it's blue and matches the stitching on the boot.

Also got some pictures from the track and some randoms.
I was car 165 and this was my best pass

Now that the Grand Prix is gone I have a couple things planned for this, just a matter of me finding the time to do them.

My minor OCD is killing me with the 2 being upside down...

Dude you have no idea. I spent like an hour trying to get it to be right side up and because of how it's threaded it kept landing that way. My level of car OCD with this thing is really high.

This happened today.

I have one more thing up my sleeve but I won't say much till I get it finished (Matt knows what it is). And then after that I'm leaving it alone for a while.

Use a lock nut under the shift ball. Lock it down where ever you want.

And I finally got my newest mod presentable enough for pictures. Got my cts-v brembos installed and repainted with some HSV logos.

We gotta get a "Like" function on here...

Also, as to shifters, GMM Ripshift is the best for Aussie cars.

Anyway, one of the things I want to do, and has been on my bucket list for awhile is Brembo conversion. What/who's bracket did you use?

I used the bohnman kit for the brackets. And I'd 500% recommend it. They bolted right up as if they were factory. Really makes it worth the price. The only thing I had to modify was opening up the hub bore on the Camaro rotors. Most people use a machine shop but I couldn't find one that would do it, so I did it myself with a burr bit.

I would, of course, recommend a machine shop. If only the Camaro rotor was 1/16" less in diameter, I could have done it on my lathe.

Jeff sources it from a local guy named Damian (Itsme4G63 on CHC). Mark who came out with us to Woodward one year, his GTO was one of Damian's prototypes. But there are a couple other versions out there too, which is why I asked.

I almost forgot, I went to the track last week and put down a 14.0 @ 101 mph. So the shifter has helped a great deal. Also can the cluster be programmed with a tech 2? I kind of want it to have the Holden logo on it and I really don't want to pay somebody some crazy price if I can harass one of you guys to help me out.

Post subject:  Re: I did a thing (warning: Holden content)

No, a T2 cannot change cluster programming. Jeff does some of this stuff also (changing colors, faces, and stuff). But I'm not sure what he can/can't do. Otherwise, look up Chris White. He's in Detroit also. He's the one that did mine.

I had my colors changed from white to Pontiac Warm Red and orange needles, turned on the shift light and made it a blue LED, customized my start screen with the HSV logo, and then customized the text with "LANES GTO 2004"

Here is his website: http://whiteautoandmedia.com/

Not sure if he's too active anymore, I haven't seen him in years.
