I thought it was too when I first saw it on craigslist but it's not.

Here's the low down:

2007 Crown Victoria P71
250k miles and 8378 hours

It was a black and white squad (you can see in the door jams) from '07-'10. They put 80k miles on it.

Then from '10-'12 it was a taxi cab from chicago. They put 170k miles on it in 2 years.
Then this guy bought it and had it in milwaukee for a very short time.

At some point it was painted this gold color, so it looks like a detectives car.

Runs and drives great. And its got a lot of power too. RWD and V8

From 20 feet the car looks mint. But when you get up close to it you can see the paint job wasn't the greatest.

But for $1400 I can't really complain.

Needs two tires, and gives a clunk from the front end when turning once in awhile but other than that should be a good car.

My Town Car always clunked from the front end. Ball joint broke one day while I was driving down the road (scary) so I replaced all 4 ball joints, it still clunked. I think it was sway bar endlinks, but I got rid of it before I got a chance to change them. That car was a turd, but I had a lot of fun with it. P71 should be even better!

I don't it's kind of weird. When we test drove it, it was kind of a clunk grinding (only when turning). But now at home there is no noise :bhuh:

And yes, it is very fun. It has like zero options compared to the bonneville.

Only options are a functions radio and power driver seat with lumbar. But it's just the RWD and power of the V8 that make it fun.
And this is going to be a 16 year olds car  Not sure that's a good idea lol

Nice find!

It should keep going for a long time. It's a P71 Panther, so it's made to take abuse and keep on going.

Looks identical to the St. Louis County patrol cars in my area - they're painted that same exact color. 170k cabbie miles? In Chicago? Uffda.

Yes and in 2 years!

It runs and drives great. So far the only things I have found, brakes squeak. Might need new pads and a little clunk in the front end.

Otherwise runs, drives and shifts great!

Not liking the electronic throttle though...

Also, there is no traction control....?

I like! I even like the color, looks like a pretty fun car!

He'll be able to get away with a lot of stuff in that car. Most people will see the car and think "police" so they won't question it. Folks unfamiliar with the car will start driving better around it, too. Perfect for a new driver, since they won't know it's not a plainclothes squad car.

That is a very good point.

The only problem is. He knows where the throttle is....

I noticed when I was driving it. Everyone stares...for better or worse?

Easy. He pays for his own gas, or gets a reasonable set amount (say $20) to pay for gas each week, enough to get to/from school/practice with a little left over for going to a friend's on the weekend. Either he'll learn to love driving slow and smooth, or he'll be walking everywhere. If his friends want to take his car someplace, they get to chip in to fill the tank.

Hell, he could start a "taxi" service for his friends lol.

Gas is the least of it. It's a gas hog.

It's more of the black marks on the road and speeding ticket thing. Lol

One thing I found out. The P71's have Kevlar liner doors.
Extra metal supports in doors and on frame.

They are tuned to have a higher idle speed and also tuned to shift a couple hundred RPM's higher than the normal ones. And have something fancy in the transmission where it stays in over drive till 110MPH.

As well as other upgrades.

The high idle is so it burns cleaner since they sit for long periods of time. Less soot on the inside of the engine, etc.
